Entrepreneurial success stories...and what they don't tell

Photos from sailboats. Expensive watches. Happy faces. "That's how I built my million-dollar empire in 3 years!"

And my posts?

It's simply about my experiences and insights from years of sales. Ups and, yes, plenty of downs. And yes, you do sometimes start to doubt yourself if you can't use these feats as a headline.

Yeah, I am just going to keep it real.

It's THEIR truth. Their path. Their context. Their happiness. But they don't tell you everything.

They idealize entrepreneurship... They show how "hard work" it is, but only the Instagram side. While you really have to make a lot of mistakes to become successful. I could write a book about it.

Never the moments when they:

→ Couldn't pay salary for three months

→ lie awake at night stressed out because that new expensive colleague doesn't deliver

→ Nearly went bankrupt due to one customer dropping out

Do they have any self-reflection? Or is it mostly just boasting about how "visionary" they were? Don't be fooled. It's THEIR story.

And my biggest question: were they really on the front lines? I talk to plenty of entrepreneurs who have a great solution that's "bought" once, and then they don't know how to scale up.

How does that work? Do they know how to...

→ Call that cold prospect yourself and getting rejected

→ Keep customers happy when your team changes or is performing only half-heartedly

→ Recruit and retain people even when there are setbacks

→ Manage cash flow without external financing

I wonder... So be careful with too many "successful" entrepreneurial stories online. Send them a message asking what they're NOT sharing and what they've learned from their darkest moments.
